A multidisciplinary creative, he studied at the Institut d'Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya and Image and Sound at CEV Barcelona. ARTISTIC CAREER When he was only eleven years old, Nacho Mayals began to experiment with linear video editing, thus experiencing the laborious processes of this medium. And in the early nineties he took his first distance photography courses. From the study and experimentation of both disciplines, he decided to dedicate his career to video and photography, thus arousing his curiosity for design, film and video collage. He has worked with a wide range of media and techniques, from animation, title credits, stop-motion, video art, short films and set design. However, despite the difference and variety of the languages he uses, they all show the simplicity and at the same time the complexity of the psyche, the balance between design and control. Nacho Mayals presents different points of view, influenced by Brossa, Tarkovski, Bass, Duchamp, Magritte and Yasuzo Masumuro (among many others). Symbolic and organized in multiple layers, he combines deep spaces with diverse perspectives on the behavior of the human being in the face of difficulties. Allegorical images with a strict aesthetic in each plane and always with a critical sense towards society and the system. We can see in his pieces the genres of conceptual art and minimalism giving the importance it deserves to the poetics of the objects used. He is currently immersed in documentary, advertising and artistic projects.
